Macos 26 Tahoe - ioquake3 No Sound

I have an M4 MacBook Pro - ioquake3 has run great for - well always - but I just upgraded to macOS Tahoe 26 and there is no in game sound. Also when moving around the menus the click/dink sound is not there. The only sound that plays is the opening stamping.

Again, sound has been no issue forever - only change is going to Tahoe.

Thoughts?

We are aware of issues with sound on macOS Tahoe but don’t have a root cause yet.it will get fixed.

Excellent! Thank you for the efforts; much appreciated.

for now can you try doing /s_useOpenal 0in the console and then /snd_restart

This works. There does seem to be some sound “artifacts” in the background - but not too bad. Like a clicking/popping.

One thing I do notice, the game gets jumpier and jumpier the longer one is in an arena. Use to be very smooth. Now it is struggling a bit and starts getting jumpy after just a few minutes. So maybe more is going on than just sound.

Again; thank you.

For performance issues, try setting /cl_renderer opengl1 and then /vid_restart

please let me know if that helps at all.

Switching from opengl2 to opengl1 seems to help. It is subjective. I felt like the performance was better. I don’t recall any jumpiness before macOS 26… but again, maybe I am being sensitive to change.
