There is an ancient file in the ioquake3 source tree called TODO that cataloged some of our early ambitions, and this file was later put on the wiki since it made more sense to be there instead of “wasting” commits. I wanted to make this post to bring the TODO back. Notably, some of these goals have been here since the beginning, many goals were reached and removed. Some like CMake were here since at least 2014…
FOR ANY RELEASE, WE NEED, ON EACH PLATFORM:
-
Testing of Quake 3 single player, and network games (pb will never work)
-
Testing of Quake 3: Team Arena, SP and MP, etc
-
Testing of at least one other Quake 3 mod, rq3.com or something.
-
Per-platform installers, see Packaging ioquake3
For 1.666:
See above.
Please remove each one as it is done:
Win32
Linux (we can get by with a source-only on this)
MacOS X
Way of the future:
* cmake, maybe.
* Four player split-screen
* Multi-platform application to launch and download mods.
* some kind of automatic update system.
