Try to install iosquake3, no joy so far.
Please refer to attached file structure that may show where I’m going wrong.

The Quake 3 exe goes in the directory containing baseq3 (not inside baseq3). So based on the screenshot, move the Quake 3 exe to the “Quake III Arena” directory.

Many thanks, done this but still the same message comes up.
The screenshot also shows you’re missing baseq3 pak1.pk3 to pak8.pk3 from Quake 3 updates (point release) which are required to play. You get them at Patch Data – ioquake3.
