All this is a strange one. Everything works after the OS upgrade but now I have NO SOUND for any part of the ioquake app. Just weird. I am trying to load the game to a Windows 11 Box I have just setup so that may be my fix but I prefer playing on my ubuntu. I have a shared Raspberry Pi quake III server as well… which is fun!
Any ideas are accepted.
Cheers,
Tom
Hard to diagnose this issue without remote access to the machine. But these clarifying questions might help a little.

Was the OS upgrade to Ubuntu 24.04.1?

Did you download the ioquake3 client directly from ioquake3.org, through the Ubuntu package manager, or compile it yourself from source?
Thanks for responding…
I processed the upgrade from Ubuntu (20.04 to 20.04.1). I did a previous upgrade from UBUNTU and the ioquake3 application was already loaded. As for the installation (from UBUNTU or from a download I ran the IOQUAKE3 install from a 3rd party web-site, I will assume it was the ioquake3 site but it was about 4 years ago. I did run openarena from UBUNTU and I think it is still loaded but I never play it since it will not see my Raspberry pi server running my quake3 server.
It is weird. I did the update and everything else seems to work except the sound for this one application. And I cannot find any real sound configuration for that app except the sound portion in the game but that is not really a means to validate the sound drivers or output… just volume and what type of sound to hear.
